With ‘Gedanke’, his previous 3-track EP, Vincent Krennerich had already shown off his skills as a musician and composer, articulating a collection of poetic prose made into music. We talked about it in a previous article; if you missed it, you can read it here.
But while ‘Gedanke’ found its highest expression precisely in articulating itself on several tracks, with ‘Perspektive’ Krennerich amazes us more than ever, managing in one song to find synthesis and openness to a musical delivery with multiple reading.
It may seem obvious to say this, since the title ‘Perspektive’ – in English perspective – already calls into play that principle: a particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; to expand a point of view. But it’s the way Vincent alludes to where we should turn our gaze, that leaves us stunned. So permeating and at the same time liberating, his musical argument is both tight and inspiring.
Moving between suggestions that are now romantic, now melancholic, ‘Perspektive’ is a story unfolded amidts poignant and calming feelings. A canvas of a tale that expressively instills and channels genuine and touching emotions, finding in its simplicity an impeccable hook to the life experience of each of us.
With the notes of ‘Perspektive’ it is as if Krennerich was rotating around a fixed point. A sort of permanent center of gravity, which he touches gracefully with unpredictable phrases. He caresses it, barely touching it, and then moves away after a moment, repeating this cycle in seemingly infinite and boundless iterations, each born from the previous one, hovering between more vibrant pulsations and rarefied suspensions.
And all this is done without the use of one spoken word, but with impeccable played notes, that are far more communicative than a whole sea of lyrics.
