A creature who sings songs of monsters and mysteries

Waxlimbs is a four-piece band based in Toronto, Canada.  Started as the solo project of songwriter/producer, Lex Metcalfe, this act is the result of the whirlwind collaboration with Paul Geldart on drums and synths, Will Jarvis on guitar and vocals, and Olivia Cox on keys and vocals.

A shifting shapechanger, capable of ranging between ghostly ballads and noise rock elements, Waxlimbs’ is a music brimmed by evoking and atmospheric sonorities, all mixed with a healthy dose of pop sensibilities.

On the live stage, the group performs masked with theatrics and visuals that accompany their peculiar approach and eclectic sound aesthetic.

Their latest release is the single titled “Dead in the Water,” a song about mental health. Depicting that immaterial cage may make you feel trapped when you are enslaved by your own thoughts, the song grows and rises like the tide that first assaults your ankles and then gradually climbs to your throat until it engulfs you in its suck.

The sense of loneliness, and the anguish that builds up as you become aware of your helplessness, are the right fuel that drives this spooky tune. Furthermore, the command vocal lines and persuasive guitar riffs works as a powerful unchaining force.

Giving breath and space to a perspective view of hope, the piece works perfectly as a soundtrack for those moments when you want to belt out all your anger, but without the need to smash everything around you.
