Mamoru Satoh, stage name Masa, is a Japanese artist with a multicultural background who lived between Japan, Hong Kong, and the United Kingdom.

Masa has traveled the world accompanied by his guitar since he graduated from London College of Creative Media in 2014.

He started out busking in Galway, Ireland, building a reputation one performance at a time, step by step, act by act, joining ex-Weather Girls Ingrid Arthur in various European festivals as well as performing in more than 10 countries and 25 cities, including London, Tokyo, New York City, Berlin, Montreal, just to name a few.

As a highlight of his journey in December 2020 Masa released her debut single titled “No Matter What, No Matter Where,” a brilliant pop number with an indie streak suspended somewhere between softer rock and R&B of old school.

Packaged under the aegis of a Neo City Pop sound, the Japanese artist offers a work as delicate as it is solar, managing to color the deep black of a starry night sky with a myriad of nuances.

Released with Fogwood Records on December 12, 2020, “No Matter What, No Matter Where,” the single penned by Masa is accompanied by a Japanese/English official lyric video. Check it out on the Masa YouTube Channel.

The inspiration of his smoky vocals intertwines with tasty blues guitars, while the laid back jazz harmony corroborates the refined sophistication of the single’s aesthetic.

From blues to jazz, but also from soul to R&B, as well as from pop to rock, the multiple stylistic veins that converge here are many, more or less distinguishable even to the less discerning listener, but in any case all focused with wisdom to make hover catchy melodies.
