Set into the fervent artistic epicenter represented by the Chicagoland music scene, Vogt had the pleasure of performing with countless incredible instrumentalists. These include The Chicago Yestet, Chris Madsen’s Kings of the Lobby, Pocket Radio Bonzo Squad and The Xavier Breaker Coalition, as well as many fantastic touring groups.
But the list of artists with whom Vogt has performed does not end here. Between 2013 and 2014 he also had the privilege of playing at the Jazz Showcase alongside artists such as the legendary Ernie Watts, while 2016 saw him perform with Donny McCaslin, and play “I Wish” with Nate Watts, Stevie Wonder’s long-time bassist and bandleader.
After treading the stages of Chicago’s most iconic venues, such as Green Mill, Double Door, Lincoln Hall, Reggies, Schubas, Andy’s and Grant Park for the Chicago Jazz Fest, Vogt continues to perform regularly, every Thursday evening at aliveOne with Bonzo Squad, Tuesdays at the SoHo House with Sam Trump & Jeff Swanson and weekends with the equally busy pop-rock quartet Rendition. Various other dates you can find on his calendar.
Sinking in the most genuine roots of jazz, the music that Vogt creates is a fusion concoction set in a modern key that also finds its expression in colorful forms of improvisation. Giving body, form and substance to his musical visions, Andrew sets up listening experiences in which one can find a multitude of musical arguments, ranging from feverish and enthralling grooves to thrilling double bass turns to introspective reflective parables.
Vogt first record dates back to 2014, when he released his first album as producer and primary composer under the group “The Humble Organisms”, followed in 2016 by his free jazz debut EP as a bandleader, “For Free”, and by the funk-fusion album “The AV Club”, released the following year.
Today, after recording two albums in 2019 with Woody Goss (Vulfpeck), “Strange Satisfaction” by Woody & Jeremy and “Anyway” by May Erlewine and the Woody Goss Band, Vogt is preparing to launch a further new album titled “Awakening”, which is slated for release by the end of 2020.
