Platinum-selling artist, DJ, and producer, Dillon Francis has continued to garner fans’ attention worldwide.
His catalog encompasses various chart-topper numbers, from the #1 Dance Radio Airplay hit “Anywhere” (feat. Will Heard), to “Candy” (feat. Snappy Jit), from the #1 Billboard Dance Club Songs “Coming Over” (x Kygo, feat. James Hersey), up to the RIAA platinum-certified “Get Low” (with DJ Snake), which surpassed 500 million worldwide streams.
Landed in 2012 as “the first moombahton artist to achieve the number one spot on Beatport” with the “Something, Something, Awesome” EP, his 2014 major-label debut, “Money Sucks, Friends Rule” (Mad Decent/Columbia Records), graced Rolling Stone’s 2014 Top Electronic Albums list, while his “This Mixtape Is Fire” EP ranked at #1 on 2015 Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart.
His long list of collabs sports names from all over the world, including Big Freedia, Bunji Garlin, Vera Hotsauce, Nitti Gritti, and more well-deserved veterans which led him to open up a lane for himself to a global market, reaching an international audience that has long embraced dance music.
With tons of releases already packed in the quiver, Francis is showing no signs of slowing down, consistently focused on engaging a social media fanbase of over 2 million on Instagram, 1.5 million on Facebook, and over 1 million on Twitter.
Appealed as “one to watch,” Evie Irie is the secret spice that add the extra bliss to the latest work signed by Dillon. Like a pop alchemist, the Australian singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist turns self-described “weirdness” into universal wonder within her music.
Together they created “Be Somebody,” a shimmering electro-pop piece drive by a catchy feel-good aura. The lushing soundscape punctuated by airy guitar, wild synths, and a precipitous drop is furtherly enriched by Evie vocals, fluttering over confessional verses such as: “Everybody’s fake as fuck and I’m way too drunk to pretend I’m happy.” Then culminating on a cantabile chorus, Evie bosses up, empowers, and promises: “Me and my friends, we gonna pool our money, we gonna get a droptop, we gonna be somebody.”
Dillon commented, “’Be Somebody’ is an ode to all the people that told me I was just a class clown and wasn’t gonna make it.”
Evie added, “Be Somebody is Dillon’s story, and I’m so lucky to help share it. When he was telling me the inspiration behind his idea, I totally related to it. Just a small kid with big dreams in a school ground.”
The release of “Be Somebody” is accompanied by an official lyric video. Check it out on the Dillon Francis YouTube channel.
