Swedish rap group Bobby Royale reverses the trend heading back to the origins of Hip-Hop by releasing the single tune “Ain’t love.”
The 4-member Nordic act shoots out a stylistic manifesto in which all its musical juice stands out, clean and melodic, topped by a fist full of hooking lyrics.
“A little story that needs to be told;” this is the incipit that coherently introduces us to a double single that unfolds between synonyms of ignorance, innocence, cultural responsibility, and frenzy.
“Ain’t love” is a centipede that digs sentient tunnels in that mud of our century that sees us embroiled in arguing, debating buggy policies, on separatist snakes, denouncing the exploitation of the system.
Gurra G, former member of the legendary Swedish hip hop-pioneers Just D; Isac Parker, experienced underground rapper; Björn “Skiss” Edqvist, trumpeter for Right off, Tingsek to Loulou LaMotte; Thomas Blindberg, bass player seen on recordings with Celine Dion, Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys among others.
These are the awls that engrave, dig, and sculpt by burning their message, keyed into a two-track single that is 100% dedicated to the love of writing. Fruitful fruit of a vision that wants them to be completely focused on producing and recording music, aiming to give birth to the future sound of hip-hop, ported here in an old-school style.
A flow that goes far beyond a mere well-thought-out wordplay, if you are looking for something that generates a lot of emotion and expression, then “Ain’t love” by Bobby Royale is a gall you must definitely taste.
